PSO and RTT Energy Efficiency Partners
Repairs that focus on energy efficiency can help lower energy bills
for our low-income neighbors. Public Service Company of
Oklahoma (PSO) and Rebuilding Together Tulsa (RTT) are partnering to ensure our low-income neighbors homes
are weatherproof and energy efficient. Kathy Champion, DSM Program Manager for PSO, said, “PSO is concerned about the impact the rising energy costs will have on our customers, particularly the low-income and elderly. We are excited about partnering with
RTT to help these customers improve the energy efficiency of their homes and get some control over their energy bills.”
Energy efficiency repairs will start in September. Repairs will focus on the individual needs of each home and homeowner. These repairs
include:
Insulation
Weather-Stripping
CFL Light bulbs
Caulking
Low-Flow Shower Heads
Other Energy Efficiency Repairs
Other repairs that will weatherize the home will also be made. Roofs
and windows will also be considered in the weatherization and energy efficiency assessment.
The first PSO energy efficiency project will take place at the home
of Ms. Hopson. Ms. Hopson, 94, had her roof repaired and had major debris removal after the December ice storm. When she found out she would be getting energy efficient repairs, she said, “I am so
excited! Last winter I had cold air blowing in. This winter I will be nice and warm.” Energy efficiency repairs will include: six inches of R-30 atticinsulation; caulking and weatherstripping around doors and windows; weatherizing her heater air conditioning unit;
and installing CFL light bulbs.
